I'm thrilled to introduce the FIRST "Featured Edit" collection to The Local Edit shop! I can't think of a closet that's more exciting to feature first than that of style-maven, Ashley Stringfellow, owner of Flaunt Boutique in Danville, California and the woman behind the blog, Modern Glam, where you can find design inspiration, easy DIY projects, and delicious recipes for every season. Since starting her blog in 2017, she's been featured in HGTV magazine, Elle Decor, Country Living, Real Simple, The Cottage Journal, Style Me Pretty Living and more.
When she's not blogging or jet-setting to fashion week and market in Paris, NYC and LA or curating her drool-worthy store, she's cozying up with her two kiddos, husband and pup in Lafayette, California.
You can shop Ashley's Edit here, but first, let's learn more about her style and THAT CLOSET of hers (!):
Describe your personal style: My personal style is pretty eclectic. I love patterns and soft textures. Currently, my wardrobe consists of what I like to call “elevated mom” basics. Cashmere sweaters with details like a fun color or print, a great pair of Mother denim and my favorite Golden Goose sneakers. I also love jewelry. So lots of bracelets, stacks of rings and pretty necklaces are ways that I dress up my basic uniform.
Let's talk about that closet of yours... My closet is my favorite room in my home! We remodeled it 4 years ago and it has leopard carpeting and a painted pink ceiling. It is the ultimate reflection of my style. I have a wall of cabinets dedicated for storing my shoes and handbags, because accessories are the easiest way to update your wardrobe.
How often do you rotate through clothing and what do you do with your pieces? I clean out my closet every 6 months. I sell, donate or give away anything that I haven’t worn in the last 12 months. If it is a classic piece, I let it stay, but everything else that hasn’t been worn goes! You can’t hold onto clothing that you don’t ever wear. Let someone else love it. Once I go through what I am moving out, I take an inventory and see what I am missing. Then I go shopping!
Ok, this is a serious question. How do you not buy everything in your store? Having a clothing store makes it easy to shop, but it is also a business. When I shop for Flaunt it is different than when I shop for myself. It’s a different mindset and my personal style plays a very small role in what I choose for the store. I buy what I know my customers are going to love and what is on-trend for the season.
What are your favorite pieces right now? Any specific style you're loving? My favorite pieces right now include any high-rise Mother denim. The higher waistline makes your legs appear longer! I’m also obsessed with my Veronica Beard blazers. It’s the easiest way to dress up jeans and a tee.
Thank you, Ashley! It's been a blast sorting through and photographing Ashley's Edited collection and I'm so excited to offer them to you! Shop the collection now.
